CCMS will be hosting a Flea Market on Saturday May 12.  You can reserve a spot for $20 and sell from 9am - 1 pm.  The leadership team has been working hard to get this event going and we hope to see a lot of staff, family and friends out to support our efforts.

STAR testing is right around the corner and we would like to remind students of some hints and tips to make them successful during the week of testing.  Below you will find two documents that include some really good information for test taking week.  Feel free to look them over with your child to help them prepare for the week.

CCMS has partnered with the Oakland A's to provide our friends and family with discounted (almost 50% off!) tickets.  There are 6 games you can buy tickets to and we have declared Sat April 21 game as "Cesar Chavez Middle School's Night at the A's."  Please check out the flyers below for more information.  One flyer is in spanish and the other is in english.

This year we the 8th grade class will be voting for the "8th grade favorites" online.  If you are in 8th grade, please visit the URL below to cast your votes.  The voting window will stay open until midnight 3/20/2012.

This Friday (2/24) CCMS will host a Black History Month Assembly.  We have secured 3 guest speakers and a few performances for the 1 hour assembly.  The school will be on an assembly schedule on Friday in order to create time for the speakers and performances.  The students will stil attend all classes, just for a shorter period of time.  Bios for the three presenters will be included soon.

CCMS will be hosting an Honor Roll Awards evening this Thursday (2/23/12).  The event is open to families of any student who earned a 3.7 or higher on their second quarter report card.  We are also recognizing our "Teacher Award" students.  We will be honoring the students in our cafeteria (also know as the "old gym" or multipurpose room).  Small information flyers went out on Tuesday to all students.  While every student recived a flyer, only teacher award winners and students who earned a 3.7 or higher GPA will be recognized.

CCMS is having a garbage battle bwtween 4th and 5th period  this week.  Our beloved custodian Tony is back as the guest judge for the battle.  Tony will be looking for students cleaning up after themselves, students recycling and students following our lunch time rules.  At the end of the week the lunch period with the highest score will recieve ice cream for every student and a DJ will come out to play music during that lunch.  Good luck to each lunch period and make sure you do your part!
